The creation of the “Analytics Template” is based upon the knowledge and experience of many years of working with computerised maintenance systems, building data marts, dashboards/KPIs and the requirement to analyse asset management data.

The objective of the template is to deliver a plug’n’play approach to deliver a consistent and validated view of EAM data which can be used by end-user ‘consumers’ for self-service data discovery.

This approach has been used with a number of different EAMs (Maximo, SAP, Infor, IFS and others) and the template can be quickly adapted if required to your particular EAM.

The template also works as a data source for most popular BI, visualisation and data discovery tools.

  • TIBCO Spotfire Analytics for Maximo

TIBCO Spotfire analytic templates connected to IBM Maximo 4.x, 5.x, 6.x, 7.x can very quickly deliver a proven and comprehensive KPI reporting, failure and reliability analysis environment for continuous maintenance improvement.

The Maximo template delivers value from the first time you put data into the model and start looking at your own data in a new light with a self-service discovery and analysis tool.

Based on the experiences of other implementations you will probably not be surprised by some of the messages this approach will deliver but it will quickly highlight problem areas, provide the evidence for potential maintenance improvements and show how a proven workflow model can be used to support your maintenance activities.

  • EAM KPI Management and Performance Reporting

Looking at the EAM marketplace there seems to be a lot of discussion and uncertainty in the user base around reporting and which tool to use.

Using the market leading IBM Maximo as an example, so far we have had SQR, Actuate, BIRT, and now IBM is pushing COGNOS as a higher end approach. There is also a lot of BusinessObjects out there connected to Maximo and other EAM’s.

All these approaches have taken a long time to develop/re-develop and in my experience have not been effective in supporting continuous maintenance improvement.

The business case for using TIBCO Spotfire for Dashboards, KPI management/web reporting, and predictive and event driven analytics mashing together data from multiple sources can deliver extreme value in a short time.

Why burn thousands of development dollars on building yet another new reporting environment, specification, development/testing when you can install an analytics platform to monitor maintenance processes, sensor data, master data, reliability etc.?

  • ‘Sticking to The Plan’ delivers double the work

    Management summary:
In 2007, BP’s Ravenspurn North and Cleeton platforms in the Southern North Sea (SNS) Gas assets transformed from a highly reactive to a more planned way of working (from 85% to 10% unscheduled activities). Now, with well coordinated workforces of 65 technicians on the two largest SNS Gas sites, these platforms are executing twice the amount of scheduled work with no additional personnel. (more…)
